| Boudhanath Stupa |
Boudhanath Stupa was built in the 14th century.The stupa is located on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. After the arrival of thousands of Tibetans refugees the 1959 Chinese invasion, the temple has become popular of Tibetan Buddhism.
Many of refugees decided to live around Boudhanath Stupa. Today it remains an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists and local Nepalease, as well as a popular tourist site.The name ‘Boudhanath’ is composed of two different words Boudha and Nath. Boudha means wisdom and the suffix Nath stands for Lord.Thus Boudhanath means the Lord of wisdom.
